CCS is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or immigration status.
We are searching for a CNC Worker to support the Employment Access Program by providing quality childcare for children (8 months to 6 years old) from diverse backgrounds.

What you will be doing:
- Follow the Care for Newcomer Children requirements as set out by CMAS
- Provide an interesting and challenging program to children from 8 months to 6 years old
- Help develop and implement program components based on emergent curriculum to facilitate development of children’s gross and fine motor skills as well as language development in order to ensure children are prepared for full day kindergarten
- Prepare activities to assess skill development and provide program support for each activity
- Under the direction of the Lead Childminder, supervise all activities (exercise, play, etc.) to ensure the safety of the children at all times
- Assist children to develop acceptable behaviour for social integration and adaptation in the community and in school
- Prepare and distribute snacks to children according to Canadian Food Guidelines
- Meet with and regularly engage with parents to answer questions and provide information related to the child minding centre and provide information regarding children’s development
- Assist Lead Childminder with integrating parents into the childminding center using special activities, helping roles, etc.
- Perform all required housekeeping duties in the childminding space
- Maintain up-to-date records of children’s development, interests, strengths, needs and skills
- Actively promote community resources (e.g. libraries, community centers, Early Years Centers)
- Ensure the confidentiality of all client and agency files and documentation (electronic and hard copy) in accordance with all required policies
- Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports on program activities and outcomes
- Participate in professional development activities and attend staff meetings as required
- Ensure responsible use and care of all CCS equipment and resources
What are we looking for?
- Diploma in child development from a recognized academic institution
- One year of experience required
- Experience working with children from infants (6 months) to school age
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
- TB test and up-to-date immunization records
Location: Scarborough, ON
Compensation: $23.27 to $25.77 based on experience
Hours of work: Total 480 hours per year for the duration of the contract, based on schedule provided by EAP Manager.
