New Renaissance Academy is an Ontario Secondary School. New Renaissance Bilingual is a Mandarin/English private elementary and junior school. We are located in the Town of Vaughan, Greater Toronto Area (offering credits toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma).

The school consists of four major divisions: New Renaissance Academy on-site division, New Renaissance Academy on-line division, New Renaissance Academy English Language Institute and New Renaissance Bilingual School, all located at 9500 Dufferin Street, Vaughan, Ontario.

For our high school students, New Renaissance is committed to preparing students to enter Business, Engineering and Technology faculties at Canada’s major universities. The student body will be a mixture of Canadian and International students.

For our elementary bilingual elementary and junior school, we are committed to immersing our students in both English and Mandarin with our creative combination of the Ontario curriculum and the Chinese curriculum.

Reporting To: The Principal

Start Date: Immediately

Responsibilities:

§  Assist the school principal with the preparation for the school opening and the daily running of a high school and an elementary school.

Upon school opening:

§  Provide secretarial support to the school administration.

§  Provide general office support, including maintaining printers and office supplies, arranging the servicing of office equipment and storage of material and other supplies and equipment.

§  Record and process book purchases, school supplies and related school requirements.

§  Monitoring attendance for staff and students.

§  Collects and distributes mail.

§  Maintain school files.

§  Maintain student files.

§  Liaise with the ONSIS (Ontario School Information System) division, complete and submit the ONSIS reporting for the Ontario Ministry of Education.

§  Liaise with schools from which students are transferring.

§  Create weekly newsletter for our school communities.

§  Assist administration in developing schedules and timetables.

§  Respond to student, external, staff and faculty in-person and telephone inquiries.

§  Schedule appointments and assessments for prospective/current students with school staff.

§  Coordinate and schedule Academic Upgrading assessments for prospective students.

§  Communicate information about school activities and decisions, including class cancellations and posts where appropriate.

§  Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Maintenance and Organization

§  Organizes and maintains, in electronic or printed versions, the student OSRs (Ontario Student Records), a variety of records, files and documents.

Education

§  Minimum completed two (2) years in Office Administration preferred. If education is in a related field of the study, please state how it is relevant.

Experience

§  Minimum five (5) years of experience in a secretarial/administrative support role, preferably in an education environment.

§  Must be able to secure a positive Vulnerable Sector Screening Report (Criminal Check).

Skills

§  Must be familiar with ONSIS.

§  Proficiency in the use of the following software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, PeopleSoft Outlook.

§  Detail-oriented and possess the ability to work accurately under stringent deadlines.

§  Excellent planning and organizational skills in order to establish priorities.

§  Strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills (both written and oral) to interact with the Academy’s multi-cultural staff, students and the school community.
