LINC Instructor – (Part-time, Contract until March 31, 2026)

CCS is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or immigration status.

We are searching for a part-time LINC Instructor responsible to teach English to newcomer learners in line with the Canadian language benchmarks.

What you will be doing:
Teach a daily class in compliance with Canadian Language Benchmarks
Design and provide professional, appropriate and motivational short and long-term lesson plans consistent with accepted teaching methods and the needs and level of the class
Create lesson plans that are outcome based and have identified measurement processes
Maintain clear and accurate records of students’ achievements and outcomes
Incorporate a variety of learning materials into lesson plans to meet different learning styles
Orient students to portfolios as a learning and assessment tool (PBLA)
Develop and maintain an anti-bias classroom atmosphere where participants feel welcome and interested in learning
Combine classroom teaching with computer instruction; apply ESL educational software
Ensure ongoing attendance and active participation of learners each day
Collaborate with other CCS staff to ensure LINC participants have access to the full suite of available settlement services
Complete administrative duties such as client registration and orientation, attendance records, monthly reports and statistical information as required

What are we looking for?

TESL Certificate from a recognized institution and ongoing membership with TESL Ontario or TESL Canada
Previous successful experience (minimum 3 years) teaching ESL or LINC at various levels
Excellent lesson planning skills
Demonstrated experience working with adults of diverse cultural backgrounds
Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills, and second language relevant to the community is an asset

Location: 1200 Markham Road, Scarborough, ON

Compensation: $38.30 to $42.63 based on experience

Hours of work: 3.5 hours/day, 5 days per week
