Career Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for up to 11 Apprentice Electrician – Wiring and Service in our Signals/Electrical/Communications Department. This is a 40 hour work week involving rotating shifts with various off days. Come join out Team!
What You Will Do
• Successfully completing an 8,000 hour training program, obtaining and maintaining a 309-A Construction & Maintenance Electrical Certificate of Qualification licence through the Ontario College of Trades (OCT)
• Successfully completing the internal TTC Wiring & Services training program
• Varied electrical maintenance work (complex to routine depending upon the assignment) involving the installation, maintenance, overhaul, testing, troubleshooting and repairing of various A.C. and D.C. fixtures, equipment and systems in accordance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and Electrical Utility safety Association and other Regulations and standards
• Successfully completing TTC Training Department programs for the operation of a Commission Vehicle, Power Cuts, Subway/SRT Rule Book, Work Protection Codes, W.H.M.I.S., Confined Space Entry, Scaffold Safety, C.P.R. & Emergency First Aid, Bucket/Platform and Aerial Lift Devices; Fall Protection, Defensive Driving etc.
• Performing work in accordance with the Electrical Safety Authority Code, and other applicable industrial standards
• Successfully Completing the Subway Infrastructure Department’s electrical aptitude test
• Upon successful completion of internal training, and 309-A licence attainment you will be reclassified as an Electrician – Wiring & Service (Grade One) as per the Collective Agreement
• Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within the area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer
What Skills and Qualifications Do You Bring?
• You must be a grade 12 graduate (technical program) or equivalent
• Must pass a TTC electrical aptitude test
• Registered Apprentice and/or Licensed Electrician 309-A would be an asset
• Must possess a valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario class G driver’s license
• You must attend and successfully complete various in-house TTC training programs for the operation of a TTC vehicle, C.P.R., W.H.M.I.S, and Subway/SRT Rule Book trainin
• Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
